Rainier Beach DIY Kitchen
Our homeowners are DIY people and they wanted their new kitchen to have a salvaged-design look that they could be a part of creating. We kept the layout of the space the same, but brought in both light and texture through white tiled walls which gives the space a crisp clean look, but also a vintage style and character. The light fixtures and hardware knobs were either salvaged or pulled from the original kitchen; a nod to the idea that styles always come back into fashion. We kept the original boxes and created custom cabinet doors, painting the whole ensemble in a pale grey to tie in with the grout of the tiles and installed three knobs per drawer to give them an updated and contemporary look. Upper cabinets were swapped out with crisp white floating shelves to create a lighter and more open feeling. Found natural wood shelves were added in as well to mix and match modern with rustic accents.
